Passion for Fashion Goes a Long Way

All the way to London!

It is coming up to the end of the year in 2015 and 3 years ago almost to the day, on a cold winters day, wrapped up with scarf, boots and coat (as you do) my daughter and I visited the world of a master couturier at an exhibition in London.     V A L E N T I N O

This exhibition showcased divine fashions with visions of miraculous dressmaking in over 130 exquisite haute couture designs, displaying decades of fashion.  The works of Valentino had a story behind each dress worn by icons such as Jacqueline Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow.

His couture detail and techniques created textures from fine silks, and the colour palettes he used put elegance into a simple, classically cut dress. Collars gave a sense of authority while ruffles and frills incorporated into the designs added a bit of flirty fun. For evening wear he used soft flowing skirt panels as well as feather-like textures that would move with a whisper of breath.

The passion for fashion never ends.  There is always a deep desire to be influenced by great designers of the past and present, always looking towards the designers of the future.

I wonder how future fashions will be influenced by our early 21st century designs?  Will future designers bring back our fashions as we do today with our love of the 50’s?

I will have another designer blog up my sleeve (excuse the pun).  Watch this space for my experience at the Alexander McQueen exhibition that I went to earlier this year in London.  This will highlight the extraordinary creative talent of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.
